Curatorial residency
Fanny Testas and Romane Beau
4 to 15 December 2023
The curatorial residency project involves hosting two curators and/or art critics to facilitate encounters and exchange within the visual and contemporary art sector in the Hauts-de-France region.
The curatorial residency is a 10-day stay during which two curators and/or art critics are put in contact with artists, venues and professionals in the field of the visual arts. The aim is to put critics and/or curators in touch with the regional art scene in order to create a dialogue, foster collaborations and explore new curatorial perspectives. The curators and/or art critics reside in the Île-de-France and Brussels regions. The Paris/Brussels axis makes perfect sense given the geographical location of the Hauts-de-France region and the work that la malterie wishes to develop in these two areas.
The laureates, Romane Beau and Fanny Testas, explored the artistic scene in Hauts-de-France through meetings organised by the residency partner organisations (artconnexion, la malterie, Camoufleur, the CRP, Fructôse and Onze Box).
artconnexion organised a series of meetings between curators Fanny Testas and Romane Beau and several artists:
7 December: Roman Compiegne; Paul Ralu; Margaux Dodard; Duo eeee (Alexis Costeux and Mathurin Van Heeghe)
11 December: Anne-Emilie Philippe; Ghyzlène Boukaïla; Thomas Moesl; Julie Gaubert; Victor Villafagne
Following this residency, the curators designed an edition to record their discoveries, encounters and exchanges.
