Discovering contemporary arts

With the Maison de Quartier du Vieux Lille - Godeleine Petit

2022

From January to June 2022, artconnexion designed and led monthly sessions with 6-8 year old pupils who benefit from educational support.

Each one-hour session was based on the discovery of one of artconnexion's main activities: art residencies, public commissions, research, exhibitions, etc. The sessions were generally divided into two parts: a discussion and exchange around the artworks and concepts, followed by a time of creative activity. Children were thus able to discover the "behind the scenes" activities of a contemporary art organisation, as well as a variety of art practices.

artconnexion has developed a gradual and playful art programme, adapted to the needs of the community centre: understanding and grasping a theme, analysing one's own practice and that of one's peers, expressing one's emotions and sensibility, experimenting with different mediums and creating independently or collectively.

Every month, the children come meet us at artconnexion to discover the exhibition programme and take part in the workshops. This year, they'll be able to try modelling and cartoon illustration.

The last session will be followed by an exhibition of the children's creative works, opened to the participants' relatives. This session will also allow for a wider audience for the workshops, with priority given to families.
