artconnexion is hosting the duo eeee to enable them to prepare their next exhibition at the Galerie des Beaux-Arts in Liège from 5 to 25 May 2024.

Composed of Mathurin Van Heeghe and Alexis Costeux, the duo are interested in craftsmanship and savoir-faire, which they believe enable us to "discover a philosophy of life in the way work is carried out".

Their practice balances the use of technology with a return to handwork, which leaves the imprint of mistakes. They divert everyday objects in order to "take a poetic look at the commonplace (and to) summon, through them, the viewer's personal history".

The eeee duo's exhibition at the Galerie des Beaux-Arts in Liège will reflect the residencies they carried out in 2023 at two venues: Le Corridor (Liège) and Le Concept (Calais), as part of ESA | Dunkerque-Tourcoing's Crescendo programme.

"Occupying 9 Rue du Cirque is an opportunity for us to finalise the production of a piece we started during our Crescendo#3 residencies (at Le Corridor in Liège and Concept in Calais). [...] Located right in the heart of Old Lille, this busy venue gives us a high profile with passers-by, but also with professionals whom we can invite to meet us.

Mon dieu, que de dangers! is the remains of a child's bedroom. The child is about to embark on a journey, preparing for it and wondering what lies ahead. The domesticity of this former living space makes the installation more authentic. The poetic dimension of what we're saying is immersed in a palpable reality. We see the child, we see his toys, we hear his voice. Duo eeee


Workshop open to the public, subject to the presence and availability of the artists. For professionals, studio visits and meetings are by prior arrangement.
