Reclaiming Art / Reshaping Democracy: the brokering and production of contemporary art

As an instrument of social cohesion and development, culture has become a transversal domain in local policy. Artistic and cultural commissions in local areas, in offering an opportunity to involve local community groups, invite us to rethink the relationship between civil society, artists and public and private players.

The professional training course “Reclaiming Art / Reshaping Democracy” inspired by the New Ptrons programme, aims to rethink the links between art and society, around questions such as: how to delegate a public responsibility to citizens? How to enable local communities to define cultural projects? How can we reinvent a new form of relationship between society and artists while respecting cultural rights and cultural democracy? How to rethink cultural economic models within the framework of social economy?

This course is aimed at: people with a degree or with at least three years' professional experience in the area of culture, particularly within the contemporary arts: visual art, music, dance, theatre, architecture, design, etc. It is also aimed at local government officials involved in the field of culture, management of cultural projects, urban policy, regional planning, etc., who wish to reinforce their professional skills.
