Simon Faithfull
Limbo
May 2011
Limbo is a website and iPhone App that present and deliver live digital drawings by the artist Simon Faithfull, launching in May 2011. Limbo is a personal atlas of the world as experienced by one person so far. Personal time and space are mapped onto the planet and delivered as a live stream of drawings.
To expand this inventory of images further the project is being launched with a week-long residency on a Dover-to-Calais cross-channel ferry. Faithfull will make drawings recording the endless crossings of this week at sea and these will be delivered as live dispatches from a watery no-man’s land between countries. Limbo will deliver these drawings through the iPhone App, the website, Twitter and Facebook. These new drawings will be made using a specially commissioned drawing programme that allows Faithfull to use his iPhone as a bespoke drawing tool in his now familiar style.
artconnexion invited the public to the Nuit de l'Estampe on the 14th of May to experience the drawings printed and exhibited at the same time of their conception.
