Antoine Petitprez

13 February - 8 March 1998

This exhibition presented a series of thirteen black and white photographs of different models of dressmakers' dummies. However, despite the cold appearance of the images, a specific sensuality emerges, due to the presence of the black zones on these female 'absent bodies', derelict zones in silent bodies...

With the attention given to the texture of the dummies, we discover the artist's interest in tissue paper and sewing patterns. Antoine Petitprez’s demanding technique and his sensitivity highlight the cohesion between photographic recording and the texture of the fabric in the details that haunt these objects unearthed in sewing and fashion workshops in Roubaix and Tourcoing.

This is the first solo show of Antoine Petitprez.
