Altermodern : Tate Triennial 2009

Every three years Tate Britain holds a Triennal exhibition celebrating current trends in British art.

This fourth Triennal, ALTERMODERN, presents new and recent works by twenty-eight British and international artists at the forefront of their generation.

It is curated by Nicolas Bourriaud, Gulbenkian Curator of Contemporary Art and the founding director of the leading contemporary art gallery, Palais de Tokyo in Paris.

Bourriaud is proposing the new term 'altermodern' to describe how artists are responding to the globalised world in which we live.
